Anime Series Tournament 2013 Winner - Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad

Over on the official FUNimation Forums (where I act as one of many moderators), another yearly tournament has just wrapped up - the Anime Series Tournament run by our good friend Dachou. A yearly event that has a long history (by internet standards anyway) dating back to the previous forums, this tournament is a mainstay of the much visited 'Meaty Competition' section.

From a list of 128 different anime series, it slowly whittled down until there was only one, the 2013 champion, and this year the honor goes to Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad!

For those unaware of what Beck is about, here's a short synopsis courtesy of RightStuf.

"Koyuki Tanaka was feeling the rut, even though he's only a teenager. Between the sheltered and stifling grind of school and the girls that spend their time not noticing him, every day was just another day of being a total nobody. Enter Ryusuke, a local rock 'n' roller haunted by a shady reputation. Together they form Beck, a dynamic band that just might be the salvation of the stagnant music scene.

Sure, it's going to take hard work and obsession to make it, but there's something special in the sound. If the guys can stay true to their vision, the world awaits. Music can change your life, sometimes against your will. Just remember: when it's live, anything can happen."

Beck is a pretty good series, chock full of great music and has an exceptional dub. If you haven't seen it yet, you really owe it to yourself to check it out.

So congrats to Dachou to another great tournament, and congrats to Beck for it's win!
