Power Rangers film has supposedly found it's director

The Wrap is reporting that Saban Brands has found the director they supposedly want to make their new Power Rangers film.  Dean Israelite, who directed Paramount time-travel film Project Almanac, is said to be in negotiations to helm Lionsgate and Saban Films' Power Rangers movie.

POWER RANGERS - The new movie promises to completely re-envision the Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world.

The screenplay was written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. They were previously credited for their work on X:Men: First Class, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe

I'm actually a classic PR fan (Gyt, our other FW participant is not) and while I'm not familiar with Dean Israelite's work the team writing the screenplay certainly has some good material in their portfolios.  I'll continue to post any news I find on the project here in case anyone is interested and when the film comes out proper I'll be dragging along Gyt to see the film with me in theaters.  Expect a nifty little "Fan VS Newcomer" editorial out of that in the future.
