Level E Review Update

This is just an update on the progress of the Level E review. Originally, I was planning to do it episode by episode, as was being done with Master Keaton by Alc, but due to the heavy back-and-forth during my work and this style just not presenting itself as the best method for my writing on most things, I'm having to change it to a post-series 'full series' review. I may tackle other series in an episode-by-episode format in the future, but for now, it will have to be full series reviews. Sorry to anyone this may have disappointed, but I hope you still look forward to the review!

Master Keaton Case 1: Man in a Maze

Case 1:  Man in a Maze

I want to make a special note, I will be doing any and all anime reviews whilst watching their English language dubs.  If no dubs are available I will of course use their subtitled versions but this will be a very rare occurrence.  If you don’t like that factor well…I’m sorry but I was born and raised in the United States of America and while I like watching subs I actually only speak my native English language.  I just generally get more enjoyment out of dubs (usually) than subtitled versions of anime or films.  That’s not to say the dubbed versions are superior but as a native English speaker I listen/watch and enjoy those more than versions where I’m constantly staring at a 1 inch frame of space to read subtitles whilst missing the nuances of character reactions or beauty of backdrops and character interactions.

That said I won’t comment on performances all that much as that can be a very touchy subject for most fans.  Subbies and Dubbies still exist, they’re still animalistic with each other, and I don’t want that shit coming in and ruining reviews or even just genial discussions any of you may want to have in the comments below.  If you like or dislike a performance that’s fine.  If you despise an actor that’s fine, but don’t hound about it in the comments.

In terms of the dub of Master Keaton I have watched the original Japanese version a handful of times but I much prefer and enjoy the dub version produced by Ocean Group.  Why?  Well it’s an odd thing but in Japanese the actors only do one thing:  speak Japanese.  There are no real attempts at any sort of accentual changes or ways of really speaking.  In the English version we are able to have the actors speak one concrete language but have the actors use accents varying by character and the region in which the stories take place/characters are from.  While many praise the anime’s dub as one of the better dubs Ocean Group produced they also comment about the accents used in the show.  Most think a majority of the accents are over exaggerated.  I’d say for me there are one or two characters where this is the case but most of the actors make their accents more realistic which fits with the show.  Now, off of my soap box and onto the review!!!

James Bond: In Service of Nothing review

A few weeks ago film maker Adi Shankar garnered world wide attention for his dark a gritty reboot of Power Rangers titled Power/Rangers.  The film presented the Mighty Morphin era's teenagers with attitude as adults, and actually skirted the line the show has never dared cross about the Rangers being child soldiers.  The film was meant to be a satire but Saban took down the film from both Vimeo where it was presented 100% uncut, and youtube where a slightly edited version was posted.

Saban however apparently reached an agreement with Shankar and allowed the video to be reposted a few days after it's removal.  Shankar wasted no time and posted his next project:  a short staring James Bond, specifically Sean Connery's Bond.

Bleach: Chapter 531: Everything But The Rain 4

Synopsis: As he observes the mysterious creature from behind, Isshin muses about how weird it is to see a black Hollow. The creature turns to face him and slowly opens it's mouth, and lets out a loud howl as it's power rises substantially. Isshin observes that it's black all over and it's hole has been filled in with something, but it's definitely a Hollow. The Hollow rushes towards Isshin, who swipes his sword out in return.

Naruto: Chapter 625: The True Dream

Synopsis: Hashirama's comrades freak out at Madara's suggestion, as does Tobirama, but Hashirama shushes them. Tobirama asks him if he's really going to kill either himself or his own brother to appease Madara, and Hashirama thanks Madara, saying he knew he could reason with him. Hashirama takes off his armor and pulls out a kunai, saying that out of Madara's options, his choice is clear, and that Madara probably knew what he'd choose, knowing all too well about brotherly bonds. Hashirama holds the kunai in front of his chest, and tells everyone to listen to his final words. After he dies, everyone in the clan is forbidden to kill Madara, and that no more fighting will be permitted between the Senju and Uchiha clans. He tells them to swear this on the names of their fathers and their unborn children, and then bids them farewell.

Soul Eater: Chapter 108: The Dark Side of the Moon V

Synopsis: Excalibur chides Lord Death about giving all of his fears to only one of his fragments, but Death retorts that laws are built out of fear and laws and madness are always fated to be two sides of the same coin. He then says that he used his son for an experiment to corner the witch Medusa, so the responsibility is his own - it wasn't something he wanted to impose on the children. Excalibur says that's no reason to die however, and Death seems to agree, though he wonders what side the new Shinigami will take.

Naruto: Chapter 624: Aiko

Synopsis: Hashirama and Madara look back at the river as they rush to leave it, only to see their fathers and brothers rushing onward into combat. It's clear from their previous fights that their fathers are equal, but the presence of their little brothers shake things up. Both fathers know that seeing the other's son die will demoralize them and give them a chance for victory. As Hashirama and Madara both yell for them to stop, Madara's father throws a short dagger at Tobirame, while Hashirama's father throws a kunai at Madara's little brother Izuna. Before either blade can hit their targets however, they are knocked out of the air by rocks, the very rocks with messages written on them that Hashirama and Madara had tossed to each other before as warnings. After saving their brothers, both boys drop down in front of them, with Madara yelling that he doesn't care who it is, he won't forgive anyone who tries to hurt his brother.

Game Review - Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter

Series: Carnivores 2
Title: Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter
Genre: FPS (First-Person Shooter); Hunting
Story: 2190 AD. On a routine exploration mission, research vessel FMM UV discovered a planet with a suitable climate for humankind. During the initial scouting expedition this young planet was declared inhospitable for colony life due to its unstable terrain and immense population of prehistoric reptiles. News of this amazing planet spread and reports of the "Dinosaur Planet" led an earth corporation to purchase the rights to the planet, and create DinoHunt Corp. DinoHunt created the unique opportunity for paying customers to become dinosaur hunters for the first time in 50 million years.
Systems: PC; iOS; Android; PSP

---

I recently picked up a new PSN card for $20, to treat myself to Tomba! after wanting it for years now, which left me some extra cash to get some other games. One of the things I ended up getting was a pack of two games for cheap, the 'Carnivores' pack. This is about just the first one out of the pack, which is the one that made me decide to get the pack at all. It was really a weird pick up for me, as I'm usually not much for first-person shooters, especially not hunting games. The allure of hunting dinosaurs caught my whimsy though, so I had to give it a try. Now if only I could make it play Jurassic Park music while I play.

Bleach - Chapter 530: Everything But The Rain 3

Synopsis: On a June 4th, at 8:22 PM in Karakura Town, two Soul Reapers are moving through the town. They mention that it's an overcast night, which might be a bad sign since two others have already been killed on rainy evenings. Isshin appears, having overheard them, and thanks them for the tip. When they freak out and ask why he's there, he tries to lie and say he went to take a pee, but they don't buy it. Isshin then tells them that if it starts to rain, they're dismissed, saying it's hard for him to pee if others are watching (the look of concern on his face shows his true meaning however). Elsewhere, a being forms in the moonlight behind some mist.

From the cart, Lucy points out that they took over a train, which she can't understand as it can only go over land. Fairy Tail - Chapter 12: Cursed Song

Synopsis: Erza despairs that she left Natsu on the train in an overly-dramatic manner, and Lucy comments that everyone in Fairy Tail is similar, but Gray claims he's more normal than they are. Erza attempts to get one of the train conductors to stop the train, but he refuses, prompting Erza to send Happy to pull the emergency stop lever. Lucy despairs over what a mess this is, and Gray agrees, but he's adding to the problem as he's somehow managed to lose his clothes again.

Naruto - Chapter 623: A View

Synopsis: Hashirama and Madara continue to spend time together, as Hashirama realizes that another kid besides him wants to change the chaotic world around them - instead of a surprise however, he considers this a divine revelation. They don't agree on everything however, as Madara calls Hashirama's hairstyle and clothing lame.

Bleach - Chapter 529: Everything But the Rain 2

Synopsis: Nimaiya is surprised that Renji didn't have a fit when he sent Ichigo back, and suggests that maybe it's because he realized it's useless no matter how hard he tried. He then further explains that he knows exactly where every asauchi he's made is at any given time. All Soul Reapers are given an asauchi (nameless sword) and with hard training, make it their own zanpaku-to. That's how it always is, even for the zanpaku-to of the Zero Division members, and even people like Kenpachi Zaraki who got his sword from a defeated opponent. Nobody has ever been able to awaken their zanpaku-to without one of Nimaiya's asauchi. He knew from the start this training wouldn't work for Ichigo, and so did Renji - only Ichigo didn't realize, and that's why he has to know the truth, and realize where his 'soul' is.
