'The Muppets' Official Trailer Released

An official trailer for the newest incarnation of the Muppets was released online a little over a week ago!

The show is set to air this fall, and while the mockumentary/interview cutaway gag style still seems a little iffy in theory to me, I have to admit – this trailer gives me a lot of hope that this is going to be the kind of show Muppet fans are really going to enjoy.

Digimon Adventure Tri Update News: Trailer, Movie, and Cast Announcement

News on the upcoming 'Digimon Adventure Tri' series has been coming out at a somewhat steady, somewhat slow, pace ever since it was first announced, but at the end of a recent streaming of the original series, Toei dropped some pretty big bombshells about it, as well as giving us a teaser trailer.

Digimon Adventure Tri, which was originally announced as a TV series, is now apparently a six-part film series instead, the first of which is titled 'Saikai' (or 'Reunion') and is due out on November 21st. The series has also reunited the cast of the Digimon partners from the original series, but the DigiDestined/Chosen Children themselves have all been recast.

Taichi Yagami – Natsuki Hanae
Yamato Ishida – Yoshimasa Hosoya
Sora Takenouchi – Suzuko Mimori
Koushiro Izumi – Mutsumi Tamura
Mimi Tachikawa - Hitomi Yoshida
Jou Kido – Junya Ikeda
Takeru Takaishhi – Junya Enoki
Hikari Yagami – MAO

The series will be re-using the original series opening and closing, 'Butterfly' by Kouji Wada and 'I Wish' by AiM, as well as Ayumi Miyazaki's 'Brave Heart' being used as the insert song. Whether this means literally the same songs or re-makes of them by the original artists is yet to be known.

Overall, this is some big and rather shocking news. The anime was originally supposed to start this Spring as a TV series, but then it was delayed, and now seems to have shifted formats entirely. This, as well as the main cast upheaval, is a bit of a sign for worry, but the trailer definitely peaks my interest, and I'm still eager to see where this goes.

Mr. Holmes First Trailer Released

The first trailer for the upcoming film 'Mr. Holmes' has also hit the internet.

The film, which is currently set to release in the UK on June 19 (no US release date has been announced as of yet) will star Ian McKellen as an aged Sherlock Holmes, whose memory is starting to fade, as he relives the details of his last – and only failed – case.

The entire concept sounds incredibly interesting, and with McKellan at the helm, this is definitely a movie to keep an eye on.

Jurassic World Global Trailer Released

We're still playing catch up from a lot of real-world work as of late, so bear with us – and first up is something that has me very excited, another new trailer for 'Jurassic World'!

Jurassic World, set to hit theaters on June 12, is the first new film for the franchise since 2001's Jurassic Park III. The story takes place twenty-two years after the events of the original film (matching the real-world passage of time) on Isla Nublar, were Hammond's dream of a fully functioning dinosaur park has finally come true. Attendance numbers are dropping however, and in an attempt to boost those numbers, the staff have created a new 'hybrid' dinosaur, the 'Indominus Rex'. The creature quickly proves to be too much to control, and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), the park's Velociraptor trainer, is enlisted to help track down the renegade dinosaur.

The film, also starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Vincent D'Onofrio, is one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I've been a huge Jurassic Park fan ever since I was a kid, so to have a chance to re-live that kind of feeling all over again is going to be great!

Boruto: The Movie First Teaser Released

A first teaser trailer for the upcoming 'Boruto: The Movie' has hit the internet.

Not a lot is shown other than giving us a brief look at the animation, which again still appears to look as good as we'd expect a Naruto film to, but it does tease a few interesting tidbits. As seen in the end of the manga, Boruto seems to have a bit of an issue with his father, likely due to how busy Naruto is. There also seems to be potential rivalry between him and Sarada, Sasuke and Sakura's daughter. Most interestingly though are a set of labels on some characters in the teaser, or most specifically, Sasuke. The label of 'Master' pops up over him, seeming to imply that he's actually the sensei for Boruto (and perhaps Sarada as well)! That would definitely be a twist I wouldn't have seen coming.

The film is currently set to release in Japanese theaters on August 7th.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Second Teaser Released

We're a little behind on news due to a busy work weekend, so most of you have probably already seen this, but in case you haven't – a new teaser for Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens, has been released!

The teaser still doesn't show enough for myself personally to decide how interested I am, being an armchair Star Wars fan as it were, but does give us a little more of a glimpse into what the film might be entailing. It's definitely nice to finally hear Luke, see a tease of Leia, and flat-out see Han and Chewie yet again.

The film is currently slated to release on December 18, 2015, and is the first in a series of new films for the franchise in the works since Disney purchased the Star Wars film rights.

Ant-Man Full Trailer Released

We're running a few days behind on this one, but on April 13th, a second (but the first full) trailer for Marvel's upcoming 'Ant-Man' film was released online!

The film, set to be released on July 17th of this year, will tell the story of petty thief Scott Lang, as he is brought in by Dr. Hank Pym to safeguard the Ant-Man suit, a technology which gives it's user the ability to decrease in size but increase in strength, from people who want to misuse it's power.

Admittedly, Ant-Man is not a character I'm super familiar with, and on paper the concept sounds kind of ridiculous – as does the name – but I haven't been disappointed by one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film choices yet, so I'm looking pretty forward to when this film comes out.

The Boy and the Beast's Second Trailer Posted, Cast Announced

The second trailer for Mamoru Hosoda's upcoming film 'The Boy and the Beast' has just been released.

The film will tell a story set in the human world's Shibuya ward of Tokyo, as well as the bakemono realm. These two worlds are not meant to intersect, but one day, a lonely bakemono named Kumatetsu discovers a lonely boy lost in the bakemono world, and takes him on as a disciple which he re-names Kyuta.

Hosoda first gained notoriety with his previous films 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time' and 'Summer Wars' before following it up with 'Wolf Children' in 2012, but the man's work goes back a long ways. Before breaking out on his own, he directed both of the 'Digimon Adventure' films (most notably 'Our War Game' – or the second half of 'The Movie' was it was released in the US – which shares many similarities with Summer Wars) as well as the sixth One Piece film.

In addition to the trailer, the cast of the film was also recently announced.

CHARACTERACTOR
Kumatetsu – Koji Yakusho
Kyuta (child) – Aoi Miyazaki
Kyuta (adolescent) – Shota Sometani
Kaede – Suzu Hirose
Grand Master – Masahiko Tsugawa
Monk Momoaki – Lily Franky
Tatara – Yo Oizumi
Iozan – Kazuhiro Yamaji
Ichirohiko (younger) – Haru Kuroki
Ichirohiko (older) – Mamoru Miyano
Jiromaru (younger) – Momoka Ohno
Jiromaru (older) – Kappei Yamaguchi
Chiko – Sumire Morohoshi
Kyuta's Father – Keishi Nagatsuka
Kyuta's Mother – Kumiko Asou

As a huge fan of all of Hosoda's previoius works, my level of excitement for this film is off the charts!

'The Casual Vacancy' Three-Part Mini-Series Coming to HBO

J.K. Rowling fans, start getting your popcorn ready, because the three-part BBC mini-series adaptation of 'The Casual Vacancy' is officially coming to HBO!

Set to air on April 29th and 30th, the mini-series adapts the same-titled novel which was the Harry Potter author's first new work after completing her wizarding tale, as well as her first novel for adults. And if you haven't read the book, though I'm certain the mini-series will have changes to certain material, let me re-stress that it is definitely a story for adults. There are some very mature and dark subject matters tackled in this story, and no wand-waving or magic to masquerade behind either. While I certainly enjoyed the novel and look forward to this premiere, it's definitely not going to be of interest to every Harry Potter fan.

If you're a fan of the kinds of characters Rowling can bring to life however, strap yourselves in for what should definitely prove to be one wild ride!

Fire Emblem 'If' Trailer Released

The crossover with Shin Megami Tensei wasn't the only showing for the Fire Emblem franchise during the Nintendo Direct, as a new trailer for Fire Emblem If (it's Japanese title, the English versions is currently just being referred to as 'Fire Emblem') was streamed as well.

The game is currently set to be released on June 25, 2015 in Japan, with an English release following sometime in 2016, and will detail the story of two opposing kingdoms – the peace-loving Hoshido, and the glory-seeking Nohr. The player character (a creatable avatar that can be either male or female) will be a child born to the Hoshido royal family, but raised by the Nohr royal family. Throughout the game you'll have to decide which kingdom to side with, that of your birthright or that of your upbringing.

In Japan at least, the game is set to be released as two separate games which seemingly would decide which kingdom you'll side with, with the opposite version available as paid DLC, but it's unknown if the American release will keep this format or just re-purpose them together as one game. Additionally, a third DLC route where you side with no one will also be available.

On a personal note, this game is looking pretty great, and serves as a reminder that I really need to go back and play some more of Awakening.

Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem Trailer Released

First revealed in a January 2013 Nintendo Direct stream, the upcoming crossover game between the 'Shin Megami Tensei' and 'Fire Emblem' franchises hasn't seen a lot of updates since that time...until yesterday's Nintendo Direct hit the interwebs. The first trailer was unveiled, and while it doesn't really tell us a whole lot, the visuals and gameplay on display are certainly enough to get me hyped, and wish I had a Wii U for when this game finally drops.

Admittedly, I'm more familiar with Persona than I am Shin Megami Tensei, and I've only played a little bit of Fire Emblem Awakening, but this is one nerd who considers this a game to keep an eye on.

Persona 3: The Movie #1 'Spring of Birth' First PV Revealed

The first short teaser trailer for 'Persona 3: The Movie #1: Spring of Birth' since it's announcement at the end of the Persona 4 movie, is finally out!

The teaser, like it's name, doesn't do much more than that, as it only really shows us the MC (Main Character), often nicknamed Minato by fans, walking along during the Dark Hour, and preparing to summon his Persona. For fans though, that's enough to get them really excited for the movie - myself included. As more of a fan of Persona 3 than I am for Persona 4, it's great to finally see this game get some attention as well.

Update: Via the ANN article posting, it seems the MC's name in this series of movies will be 'Makoto Yuki' instead of the long held fan name of 'Minato'.

Second Full 'DBZ: Battle of Gods' Trailer Released

While other Battle of Gods news has continued to trickle out at a pace that's neither slow nor fast, a new 'trailer' for the film was first hinted at a while back in the form of another talk-show type airing in Japan. Nothing else came out of it however until now, and the second full-length trailer is out and glorious! Check it out for yourself!
