After
months of speculation, it's finally been confirmed that 'Attack on
Titan: Humanity in Chains', the 3DS game that lets you play out the
action of the hit anime series, is finally coming to the US.
Developed
by Spike Chunsoft in Japan, the game is finally seeing a (presumably
digital only) release in America by Atlus USA. The game will allow
you to play alone or with others online as you try to stop the Titan
threat. For those unaware of what Attack on Titan is, here's a brief
synopsis courtesy of AnimeNewsNetwork.
“Several
hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giant beings
known as Titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to
have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to
do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small
percentage of humanity survived by enclosing themselves in a city
protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of
Titans. Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a
giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister
Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by
a super Titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller Titans
flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten
alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single Titan and take
revenge for all of mankind.”
While
various sources on the game seem to say different things as to how
good the game is and exactly what all you get to do, it seems you get
to play as various characters from the series, and (this is unable to
be confirmed at the moment) possibly as a created avatar character.
We'll
try to keep you posted as more information on the game, such as if
the anime's dub cast will be recording audio for the game or not, as
it becomes available!
